My name is Hannah. I'm a San Francisco native, born just blocks from Haight Street and Golden Gate Park in a little Victorian house. Growing up here, I always felt like the coolest silhouettes and styles had already been done. I wore vintage dresses to every prom in high school (shoutout to Relic Vintage).

There’s something about clothes with a past that always felt more special to me.

My love of making clothes actually started much earlier. In elementary school my mom signed me up for sewing classes, where I made a truly horrific teal blue strapless mermaid-style dress.

Thankfully I’ve come a long way since then. Over the years I got tired of ordering dresses that arrived sheer, thin, unflattering, and made in ways that felt completely unsustainable. (Very Berkeley student of me, I know.)

Painted Lady is my answer to that.

This brand is a love letter to the San Francisco I grew up in, to timeless silhouettes, and to little me playing dress-up in piles of vintage clothes my mom saved from my grandmother. Our pieces are made in Los Angeles using deadstock fabrics. We produce in small runs so the clothes feel thoughtful, special, and made to last.
